Present status
The Working group has participated in the EU Survey about innovative solutions to the public sector in Europe
Innovation procurement in Europe is underutilized due to public procurers perceiving it as too risky and struggling to use existing financial products. To address this, the European Commission’s Directorate for Research and Innovation has tasked the European Investment Bank to explore new financial products under the InvestEU programme to de-risk such procurements. The study will assess options like loans, guarantees, performance bonds, risk-sharing funds, and more, with recommendations on enhancing existing or new instruments.
AIPF has participated in interviews and promoted the surveys. Key areas of the study include barriers faced by public procurers and challenges suppliers encounter selling innovation solutions.
AIPF Plans to organize a workshop with the different stake holders to address several of the barriers identified
